Even amongst the many indie electronic (or whatever you want to call it) acts being thrown at us from all angles, Brooklyn duo Beacon manages to stand out. The first time I heard ‘Fault Lines’ I was intrigued and caught myself feeling. I had to look deeper.

Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett met at Pratt, neither of them with majors related to music. They both studied other forms of creative art, but when they started making music together and realizing this was their path, they dropped out to pursue a music career. Their first EP’s ended up getting a lot more attention then they expected. Since then they’ve released a handful of amazing albums and EP’s, L1 being their most recent release from December of last year, all available on iTunes, Spotify and Soundcloud.

They combine all the best EDM sounds from mainstream, underground and the oh so tasteful IDM palette. Pleasantly laid on top is Mullarneys soft and honest voice, slithering its way through the clicks and beats hand in hand. Everything about their music is soothing, deep and emotional putting them right up my alley.

They play The Echo on the 30th of the month. Tickets available here!
